Session Details

My aim for every session is to make you feel as comfortable as possible and to ensure everyone is having fun. A photo session should not be stressful. It shoud not require Mums and Dads to run around after their kids and try to get them to sit still and for goodness sakes smile at the camera.

My photography style involves taking natural, candid images that capture your emotion, connection and love. No posed, cheesy, staged photos here!

Below you'll find some more information about what a typical session with me involves. When you're ready to connect, head on over to my Contact page. I'd love to hear from you!

Before the session, I will send you a short questionnaire to fill out which will help me get to know your family a little bit better. I know, I know, I hate filling out tedious forms as well. But this will really help me to gain an insight into what your family likes doing together, what you like, what you don’t like, what things you’d like me to help capture. Try doing this as a family activity (I promise it will only take about 15mins of your time) and don’t worry if you think you’re not ‘interesting’ enough and don’t know what to include – seriously, just be yourselves, even if your favourite activity together is going out for coffee or sitting on the lounge together after bath time and watching Peppa Pig (hey, anything to keep the kids quiet after a long day right?).

Deciding On Location

There are so many beautiful locations available to us on the Central Coast. At the time of booking we can discuss if there’s a specific location that is special to your family (maybe you have a favourite beach that you like to hang out at) or I can suggest a number of magical locations.

For newborn sessions, I prefer to do these in the comfort of your own home. That way I can make sure to capture all those special little details that help tell the story of your new baby in their home (and you don't have to worry about trying to leave the house with a newborn!).

Time of Day

The absolute best time of day for shooting outdoor sessions is the hour or so before sunset. At this time of day the sun gives off a magical glow that is just gorgeous for photos. Unfortunately this does mean that the session might go a little bit past kiddies bed times, but I promise it's worth it for one night.

What to Bring

Make sure you bring plenty of snacks and water for the littlies, as well as any outfit changes if you wish. If you have a favourite heirloom rug to sit on, bring that too!

Each session goes for approximately 1-1.5hrs. This allows plenty of time for everyone to warm up (especially the little ones), let their guard down and just be themselves. We’ll aim to get any posed shots (you know, the ones that the grandparents want :)) out of the way first so that you can then just relax, be yourselves and let me capture the magic.

Mums and Dads – please don’t worry about directing your children too much. The best photos happen when they are allowed to just act naturally and be themselves (even if this includes little sisters annoying the heck out of their big brothers – not that I’m speaking from experience of my own family or anything, he he). My goal for each and every session is for you to relax, have fun and let me capture you just being you – and this doesn’t happen if you’re constantly yelling at the kids to ‘smile’ and ‘look at the camera’.

Depending upon the package chosen, approximately 2-3 weeks after your session you will be given access to your own private gallery of images where you can digitally download your images.
